In the quarter-final match of Euro in Kiev, footballers of Italy defeated England 4-2 after a penalty shoot out. The regular and extra time finished 0-0. Italy in the semifinal game will play with Germany.

The first half was very interesting, with plenty of opportunities on both sides. while in the second half the Italians were much more dangerous, they had three good chances but the English net remained intact. In extra time there was no so much goal opportunities, and the winner was decided on penalties, where the  loser again was England.

The English lost on penalties at World Cup 1990th (semifinals) from Germany, the Euro Ch. 1996th, also in the semifinals by Germany, at WC 1998th in eight final round from Argentina, and at Euro 2004th and WC 2006th in the quarterfinals they have lost from Portugal.
