Eliaquim Mangala has agreed to join Manchester City after the Premier League champion accepted to pay €40m to FC Porto.

The Premier League Champions have agreed a €40mn deal with FC Porto for the France International defender.

Manchester City have been looking for a world-class central defender to make a good couple with their captain , Vincent Company. They were close to sign Mangala in Janaury but Porto refused the bid because it didn’t match their financial demand.

The 23-years-old defender’s recent good performance , attracted the interest of many big european clubs, especially Chelsea who have been looking for the possibility of signing Mangala after selling David Luiz to French Champions, PSG.

After being aware that they could lose Mangala to their rivals, City have been looking for other central defenders , and set Mehdi Benatia from AS Roma as Mangala’s backup.

Mangala joined Porto from Standard Liege on August 2011 for a fee of 7.5 Million. During 3 seasons at Porto he scored 13 goals in 92 appearances.

Mangala is currently on holidays and he is expected to make his presentation at Etihad Stadium after the World Cup end, while he undergo routine physical examinations today this Saturday in Manchester at The Bridgewater Hospital .
