Manchester United lost the first game of the new Premier league 2014/15 season under the new coach Louis van Gaal at the Old Trafford to Swansea City 2-1. The new Man Utd boss, Louis van Gaal with a debut defeat has set a new record as it was the first time Manchester United have lost their opening home game since 1972.

The Swans took a lead in the 28th minute over Ki Sung-Yong. The same result stayed until the second half and 53rd minute when Rooney burries a ball for 1-1. Still the Swans 20 minutes later scored again and stunned the Red Devils at the opening of the new season.

“We had a chance to take a lead (2: 1), but it was not enough. What I hold against my players is the fact is that we did not play as a team,” said van Gaal.

“We must be honest and say that this is the season-opening was a major disappointment both for fans ,  the players and coaching staff. This is a terrible day for all of us.”
