Manchester City are eyeing a £25 million transfer for young German talent, Julian Draxler. The Schalke midfielder has repeatedly been linked with a move to North London side, Arsenal, but Manchester City are ready to rival the Gunners for the German’s signature.

The interest from City was prompted by an offer from Schalke for City’s Serbian defender Matija Nastasic.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini would like first option on the German winger, who has repeatedly been linked with Arsenal.

Draxler is reportedly interested in a move to the Premier League, but has had an injury-ridden since his inclusion in the German World Cup winning team.

According to reports, City are willing to sell Nastasic for £10 million, a figure Schalke boss, Roberto Di Matteo hopes can be lowered. Di Matteo will try and reduce the fee to £8 million, but would prefer a loan deal for the centre back, with a permanent deal to be completed in the summer transfer window.

City could be flexible with a fee for Nastasic if Draxler is apart of any deal.
