While Juventus struggled to seal the 2nd place in the Group stage, Barcelona was superb. One defeat, against PSG in Paris, 3-2 and 5 wins with which the Catalans side topped Group F, collecting 15 points and in the process scoring 15 goals.

It is interesting that Barca on their way to the final knocked the Premier league winner, Man City, Ligue 1 winner, PSG, Bundesliga champion, Bayern Munich at it remains to be seen whether Barcelona can knock and the Serie A winner, Juventus.

The Round of 16 has put Barca against the Premier league winners, Manchester City. A tough draw, but the Catalans already in the first leg match in Manchester have taken the control, by smashing the Citizens at Etihad, 3-1. Luis Suarez was in a superb mood that evening, finishing the game with two goals, both scored in the first half. Barca in the injury time even had a penalty shoot which the Catalans have missed. In the second game, a 1-0 win was more than enough to clinch the Quarter-finals stage. The Croatia international Ivan Rakitic scored an only goal at the Camp Nou.

After knocking the Premier league winner, ahead of Barcelona’s road to the final in Berlin there was another champion, the Ligue 1 winner, PSG who knocked Chelsea and with which Barca have already met in group stage. This time Luis Enrique’s side finished the game in Paris with a 2-1 win where once again Suarez was the man of the match, scoring two goals to put his side in control.

In the second game, Barca sealed a deal with a 2-0 win at Camp Nou where the Brazilian Neymar has scored both goals.

As two champions were not enough, a draw put together Barca with the German champion, Bayern Munich and Pep Guardiola. At this stage Bayern Munich had many injury problems and their key players Robben and Ribery were out for both games. Barca at Camp Nou led by superb Messi clinched a 3-0 win, while in Germany Barca have lost despite having a 2-1 lead at the half time. Still, a minimum defeat which wasn’t enough to stop Barcelona on their road to the Champions league final in Berlin.
