According to the Catalan daily El Mundo Deportivo, Dutch footballer Daley Blind (24) is new target of Barcelona FC.
The tough stance of Valencia which doesnt want to let the 30-year-old center-back Jeremy Mathieu for 15 million euros and Ibrahim Afellay, forced Barcelona to turn their focus to other solutions to improve the weakest part of the team, defence, and one of the Catalans options is a versatile Ajax player Blind.
World Cup star Daley Blind has left a very good impression at the recent World Cup in Brazil, where the Netherlands won the third place. Blind’s advantage is that he can play on the left side or in the middle of the defense, but also on position of a defensive midfielder.
The Blind’s contract with Ajax is worth by 2016., And Mundo Deportivo says it could cost Barcelona arround 20 million euros.
Catalans could react quickly in fear of Manchester United, who also showed interest to capture Blind, and the Red Devils have advantage of having a former Oranje coach Louis van Gaal on the bench.
In addition to United, the Catalan daily, claims that Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal and Liverpool are also interested in World Cup star player.
The player’s representative hinted that Blind probably is leaving Ajax :
“At the moment there is nothing concrete,” Rob Jansen replied to Voetbal International when asked specifically about Barca rumours. “But the rumours of today could very well be tomorrow’s reality.
“There are many clubs interested in Daley. We’ll have to wait and see what happens when the transfer market shakes up.”
