Borussia Dortmund – Arsenal – Preview 13 /09/2011 Uefa Champions League

Borussia Dortmund v Arsenal Preview

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger

“I wouldn’t rule it out yet (winning CL) but it’s too early to speak about winning it.

“Saying that would raise a lot of scepticism about the team at the moment and I don’t think any one would believe it.

“But we have to do as well as we can and we have to form a team in the next two months. It’s too early to have that kind of ambition.”

“Overall, there is no difference until we arrive at the stadium (because of UEFA ban). It’s not ideal in the first game, especially because I don’t understand anymore what the rules are.”

“I didn’t do anything wrong. I just did what I was told I could do. I asked before the game what I could do. If I wanted to do something forbidden, I would not have shown it openly. I still don’t understand why I am suspended but [then] I didn’t understand why I was suspended the first time.”

“It would create a certainty that we have a good chance to go through. For us to get a positive result tomorrow night would be a big lift.

“It’s a good opportunity for us to get positive vibes and we need a bit of that. Every team, no matter how good they are, needs confidence and I believe my team needs that at the moment.”

“For a long time we were quite successful away from home in the Champions League, it was just last season.”

“Last year we had an early nine points and we dropped points after that, especially the game in Braga when we were really unlucky.

“If you get the records of all the managers playing away in the Champions League they are roughly the same.”

Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp

“I am not sure whether it will be important that he is on the touchline.”

“It would be better if maybe (Robin) van Persie, (Theo) Walcott or Gervinho wouldn’t be on the pitch and play tomorrow.

“They have a good team and it doesn’t matter who they have got on the pitch.

“They will show a good performance but what we have to do is focus on us.

“It doesn’t matter who plays for Arsenal or who will be on the pitch.

“They will play very offensive football and we know that. Very attractive football.”
