Italy and Bulgaria get ready to take on Bulgaria in their fifth Group H European Championships qualifier in Sofia
The Azzurri stands first on the group H alongside Croatia, securing 10 points on their first 4 matches. Antonio Conte’s side has failed to impress lately, but under the management of the former Juventus manager , the Azzurri have been undefeated.
Conte did bring some new faces at Italy squad, as mostly of them are inform players at Serie A. The 3 players to debut this match are : the Sampdoria striker Eder, Empoli midfielder Valdifiori and Palermo’s Argentinian-born Franco Vazquez.
Meanwhile Conte also called Alessio Cerci, Ciro Immobile and Graziano Pelle which are on a poor form at their clubs lately.Antonio Conte has returned Andrea Barzagli to the squad as he has not played for his national team since the World Cup, while the names like Balotelli remains undesirable for the italian coach.
The Azzurri should make it without their “maestro” Andrea Pirlo and De Rossi as both players are working to return on the pitch soon. But another problem for Conte’s midfield as Claudio Marchisio got injured on training this Friday and he will probably miss the entire season.
With so many absences on midfield, PSG star Marco Verrati will have his chance to prove his potential like he have done lately with his team on the Champions League stages.
“Pirlo and De Rossi are two players who can still give a lot to the national team,” Conte told his federation’s website.”But right now we have players like Verratti, who has the possibility to take the reins of our midfield line.Marco is proving to be an important player for PSG and he has plenty of room for improvement.”
Meanwhile Marco Verrati added on his press conference :”I can take control in midfield and help to dictate the game, but only if I have the support of the rest of the squad. If you aren’t as talented as (Lionel) Messi or (Diego) Maradona, you have to rely on your team-mates.”
Possible starting lineup : Italy (3-5-2): Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Darmian, Parolo, Verratti, Candreva, Antonelli; Immobile, Zaza
The Bulgarian side got some familiar faces for italian football , as the former Hellas Verona goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov will defend the target and Palermo midfielder Ivaylo Chochev can make his debut. Ex-Fiorentina ,Juventus and Bulgarian legend Bojinov is expected to be the major threat for Italy defense.
Petev replaced Luboslav Penev last november after a bad run of results, but even the current manager has failed to make an impressing performance until now as they’ve failed to win against Malta and Romania.
The Bulgarian side has failed to qualify to any major Competition since 2004 and probably they wont reach it this time also as they’ve won only once against Azerbaijan.
Possible starting line up : Bulgaria (4-2-3-1):Stoyanov; Terziev, Minev, Bodurov, Manolev; Milanov, Dyakov; Aleksandrov, Popov, Zlatinski; Galabinov
