Chelsea have agreed to sign Barcelona star Pedro who was on Manchester United radar for some time but Louis van Gaal’s unwillingness to match Barcelona’s €30 million asking price seems to help Pedro to opt for another Premier league side, Chelsea FC.
Manchester United pulled of interest in Pedro late Tuesday night. Pedro favored moving to London rather than Manchester after been impressed by the interest shown by Chelsea.
Manchester City was also in hunt for the Spanish star, but the current Premier League Champions dug deep to land the pacey winger.
Jose Mourinho made it clear after losing to Manchester City last weekend that improvement was needed. Chelsea will pay £19 million for Pedro to Barcelona, £ 2 million more than Manchester United had offered.
Pedro will join Spanish team mates Fabregas and Azpilicueta at Chelsea. Pedro is expected to have medical on Wednesday after he arrived in London on Tuesday.
Pedro will bring options to Jose Mourinho’s side after a poor start to the season. Chelsea wanted Pedro earlier in the summer but did not finalize the deal.
The deal was snatched from Manchester United after Jose Mourinho personally called Pedro and convinced him to join Chelsea.
Chelsea will have Eden Hazard, Willian and Pedro as winger which surely will bring Chelsea back on track for the title race.
