Wilfried Bony has signed for Manchester City, the news confirmed the reigning champion of England on social networks.

What we reported earlier “Manchester City set to sign Wilfried Bony” came true. Manchester City boss troubled with injuries of his strikers Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic was eager to sign another player who could adapt instantly to Premier league competition and Man City.

The Citizens were linked with Atletico Madrid’s Mario Mandzukic but as they received the big “NO” from the Spanish capital, the next two striking options were Aston Villa’s Benteke and Swansea City’s Bony what we reported as practically a done deal despite last-minute attempt of Chelsea to “steal” the 26-years-old Wilfried Bony.

The Ivory Coast striker who recently (December 10) celebrated his 26th birthday signed a four and a half years deal with the Citizens, until the summer of 2019 and will wear number 14. Bony will be earning £75,000-a-week.

For the official Man City site , Bony said :

“It’s a great feeling for me, it’s a big honour to be here and it’s a great challenge.

“As a player it’s always good to be part of one of the biggest clubs in the world and it’s a good opportunity for me to be in that situation now – I’m really proud.

“I felt excited to wait for this moment and now it’s come, it’s fantastic.

“I think it’s a great decision for me – Manchester City is in the Champions League. You remember at the end of last season I said that if I want to move it will be to a team in the competition because it’s a great tournament that I really want to play in and one that I want to win.

“It’s a motivation for me to give my maximum to be in that place. City is a big club with great players with a lot of experience; I believe we can do it.”

Otherwise, Bony arrived two and a half years to Premier league. After a season of playing for Vitesse in which he scored 31 goals in 30 appearances and was the Eredivisie top scorer, Swansea to cash out big money and to sign him.

This investment has proved to be a big hit as Bony for Swansea in all competitions scored 34 goals (in 70 games), and 25 in Premier league (in 56 appearances).

Bony will not immediately join Manchester City, due to African Cup of Nations, where the Ivory Coast are one of the favorites. If Bony, Toure, Gervinho and company manage to reach the finals, Bony will join his new club at February 8.
