Porto have fired coach Julen Lopetegui following a streak of three games without a victory.

The Portuguese club failed to make the second round of the Champions League despite spending heavily during the summer transfer window.

Halfway through the season, Porto currently lie second in the table, just four points behind leaders Sporting Lisbon.

Despite having lost just one league match, The 49-year-old Lopetegui who had a contract through 2017 has paid the ultimate penalty.
