A 95th minute equaliser from Silvestre Varela helped Portugal to grab a 2-2 draw with USA and denied the Americans immediate qualification to the last-16.
After losing 4-0 to Germany in the first match , Portugal opened match with USA with a early goal trough Nani (5′), and it seems like the Portuguese responded well after their opening match. Still, the Americans reversed the score to 2-1 with goals of Jones (64′) and Dempsey (81′) and when it looked that Jurgen Klinsmann’s men have booked their place into the last-16, Portugal over Varela grabs equaliser and keeps Portugal still alive ahead of the last group match. USA will play with Germany, while Portugal plays against Ghana. There are a lot of calculations in this group as each team still can progress.
