Real Madrid have won the first-leg match of the Champions league semi-finals, but ahead of the rematch this Tuesday in Munich we digged into history. Ten times the Los Blancos played in Munich and never have won, further they left the Bavarian capital only once undefeated.

The last five Bayern Munich’s victory was with the same result, 2-1, but such a victory for the current European champion this time would not be sufficient for the Champions League final as Real Madrid defends a 1-0 advantage from Madrid.

The good news for Real Madrid fans is that their team scored a goal in each of the last nine appearances in Munich.

In the second leg match, Real Madrid under Jose Mourinho celebrated with the same result with two goals of Cristiano Ronaldo. The game went into extra time where there were no goals. Bayern was more successful on the penalty shoot out and reached the finals in Munich, however, the German side lost on penalties to Chelsea.
