The Argentine, Lionel Messi after netting hat-trick in Sunday’s El Clasico match has surpassed his compatriot Real Madrid icon, Di Stefano who scored 18 goals in 30 Clasicos between 1953 and 1964.
Messi who made also an assist for Andreas Iniesta opener, has brought a win to Barca and maintain the Catalans title hopes alive. After an opener, Barca was twice behind, as Benzema in space of just four minutes reversed the score to 2-1. However, than began Messi’s magic. First the Argentine scored a late equalizer for the half-time score 2-2, and in the second half he stuck twice more. Cristiano Ronaldo in the 55th minute from the penalty kick, which was outside the box, and should be awarded as the free-kick, not a penalty, once again puts Los Blancos into a lead.

It was Messi’s second hat-trick in El Clasico games,as the first one he achieved back in March 2007 in a 3-3 draw. With a total of 20 goals in 27 EL Clasico games, Messi so became the all time top El Clasico goal scorer ever, and also go second in La Liga’s all-time goalscorers’ list.
