United had a terrible week behind them. They managed to lose to Bournemouth, and got eliminated from Champions League against Wolfsburg. Given the poor results , what should United do with Louis Van Gaal?
This is probably the worst week Van Gaal has had at Manchester United. They got eliminated from European finest competition, and got a big setback in their chances of winning the Premier League.
United spend some serious money in the summer, which brought United a tag as a favorite for a Premier League title.
So far, Manchester United didn’t have the results everyone was expecting to have. Its true that the club hasn’t received a lot of goals, and has one of the best defenses in Premier League, but United’s attack simply doesn’t work.
Manchester United fans have had enough of Van Gaal, and are already calling for his sack. They are criticizing his boring style, odd playing selection, and poor results
So what should Manchester United do with Louis Van Gaal?
THEY SHOULD SIGN AN EXTENSION!
I kid you not. United should sign an extension, because Van Gaal is slowly improving Manchester United.
When Alex Ferguson was in charge of United, the club was winning games for fun. They were simply the best club in the Premier League. The main reason for this superiority was not as much as money being spend on players, but Ferguson’s long stay at the helm of the club.
When Moyes arrived, United fans were “shell socked”. Moyes had the same team as Ferguson, yet he barely reached 7th position in Premier League. With time Moyes would have gotten United back to its place, but he was sacked after only one season.
United signed Van Gaal, and they made the right choice. United reached the all important 4th place last season, which again put them back in Champions League. This was very important achievement, because it showed that club is slowly getting stabilized.
This season is no different. United is currently 4th, but is only three points away from first position. Its true that their European campaign hasn’t been good, but that is all part of a process.
United is in a process, and not yet a finished product. They played with a very young squad against Bournemouth, and while they lost, they showed that they can play quite effectively with half a squad out injured. The problem isn’t in Van Gaal, but at Manchester United’s fans and their expectations.
They got used to Ferguson’s winning ways, and the expect the same from every other manager.
However, this is a thing of the past. United main advantage has gone with Ferguson, and United is currently in a realistic position.
United will need time to get back to its former glory, and to achieve that they are going to need a long term manager. This manager could have been Moyes, but he was sacked after one (not full) season. This long term manager could be Van Gaal, but he is simply going to need more time by the fans, and United board, to bring back glorious United!
