It was a tough first half for Zinedine Zidane’s side but Rodriguez’s excellent strike finally gave them the lead before Benzema wrapped up the win in the second half. From then onwards, it was relatively plain sailing and Espanyol were unable to find much joy on the rare occasions that they were able to push forward.
