Manchester City 4-0 Aston Villa Highlights: Citizens pile more misery onto Villans

Match Highlights

Post Match Video Interview

Reaction from Manuel Pellegrini and Remi Garde following Manchester City’s comfortable 4-0 win over bottom club Aston Villa in the English Premier League on Saturday

Remi Garde, Aston Villa manager (on whether the game was a ‘mismatch’)
“I don’t know exactly what you mean, but I saw a good first half of my team. We had a plan going into the game not to concede a goal as long as we could, because you have to be realistic as well, we were playing away at a team that still can win the Champions League and we are bottom of the league, than being too much… optimistic in our game would have been like suicide.”

(on whether thoughts are turning to next season already)
“Of course I am focused on this season, you know. I’m not crazy. We have nine games to play. Mathematically, everything is still possible for everybody in that league, then it’s not at all the time to speak about next season for nobody in that club, either for players or from myself.”
Manuel Pellegrini, Manchester City manager (on whether it was important for his team to score four goals)
“Yes, I think so. It was very important for us to score four goals, because we always try to be a scoring team. With these four goals, we return to be the most scoring team of the Premier League. We always try to play in an offensive way, so I think that doing it, especially against Aston Villa, they had nine players behind the ball, I think that this will give us a lot of trust.”
(on fighting on to the end of the season)
“We need that the other teams lose points, we are not just depending on what we can do, but be absolutely sure that we are going to play every game as a final. I am sure that we are going to be involved in the title ’til the end. The margin of error is very small, but I think that this team has the experience to try to do it.”
