Jose Mourinho is under tremendous pressure after yet another defeat against Stoke City which saw the Capital One cup winners out of the competition.

Chelsea lost to West Ham on Saturday in the Premier League and are 15th in the league table. Jose Mourinho is facing the axe from Chelsea owner. Chelsea face Liverpool on the weekend and this could be an exciting counter. This game is huge for Jose Mourinho’s men. Chelsea performance showed signs of improvement against Stoke City but next big game is against Klopp’s Liverpool.

Aitor Karanka, who worked with Mourinho at Real Madrid has backed him and labelled him as the best manager in Premier League.

‘He’s the best and the strongest and I’m sure he will be successful again,’ said Karanka.

‘He’s not good because he’s a winner and when he’s not winning, he’s not good. But I think his friends have to be here to support him.

‘I think he can learn from episodes like this because it’s the first time he has been in this position. He has very good staff and very good players and I’m sure the group will help him a lot.’

‘As a player it was amazing,’ he recalled.  ‘At that time, Manchester United were the favourites, they had won the Champions League and Premier League the previous season.

‘We drew 0-0 in the Bernabeu and everyone expected Manchester could beat us easily at Old Trafford, but we were winning 3-0 after 52 minutes, so it was a surprise.

‘They then scored twice and we had a few problems but we held on, it was an amazing night.

‘As an assistant with Jose it was different. It was a really difficult game because we drew 1-1 at home.

‘We weren’t playing well and it was difficult for us to score, but they had a man sent off, and in that moment Jose changed it. He made a substitution straight away, bringing Luka Modric on the pitch and we won the game.

‘So I have very good memories – let’s hope that continues after this game. But now it is a little bit different – we are with Middlesbrough and not Real Madrid!’
