With Manchester United playing Liverpool next week, it’s a fantastic chance for Wayne to get going for this season in the EPL. To be fair to Wayne, you’d expect him to bury chances like the one late in the match against Swansea. Though it’s not entirely his fault. Rooney’s more of a team player and his tendency to drop deep to bring the ball up hurts his scoring chances. Not that he is to blame, often strikers not getting service tend to drop deep and help out the team. Harry Kane is another example of that. Hence, it is not surprising to see that both of them have not scored in the season. On the other hand, a striker often criticized from a rival team has already kick started his EPL tally. Guess for yourself.

Manchester United needs to get a bit more service into Rooney. The need to move the ball quicker. One way to do this is play Mata in the number 10 role. Rooney can thrive with Mata behind him, providing him with the balls, he can latch on to and score. Ander Herrera could also be considered as an option in the center midfield to move the ball quickly. He is a great passer and the second half of the last season showed that.

Wayne Rooney Changing Room Speech

As for Wayne Rooney, this isn’t the first time that this has happened to him. He needs to put his head down and work hard. Because when that happens, he is usually back with a bang.

The good news is that Rooney vs Switzerland has scored his 50th goal, a thing which for sure will boost his morale, and that’s exactly a thing from what Man Utd can benefit.
