Belgium international defender Daniel van Buyten announced the end of his professional football career after he denied his move to Anderlecht as some media were reporting.

Van Buyten for the last eight years was a member of Bayern Munich, and during his career he played for Charleroi, Standard Liege, Marseille, Manchester City and HSV.

During the 16-years long professional career, he collected 586 official club matches and 84 in the jersey of the Belgian national team. Last game for Belgium he played in the World Cup quarter-finals against Argentina, which the South American team win with 1-0.

“I had a couple of interesting offers, but my body says it is time to rest,” said Van Buyten.
