Despite having a 1-0 lead, Tottenham Hotspur at home managed to drop all three points, as Newcastle was on target with two substitions in the second half. Both of them Mitrovic and Perez have scored, to complete the Magpies comeback and to take all three points from the White Hart Lane.
Mauricio Pochettino, Tottenham Hotspur manager:
“No, concerned? No. In football you can improve but after the first half you see that all were happy in the stadium and it was clear in the way that we can play with energy, always to create the chance, have control of the game. But I’m not worried, I want to know, to see again the game because the second half, I think the feeling is not the same. Maybe it’s my feeling, because to be honest I think it was a game to win for us. But you know, always in the Premier League , it’s always difficult. They have the chance to score. It was a bad night for us.”
Steve McClaren, Newcastle United manager:
“Absolutely. Half-time was a big test for this team. I thought were competed well and I’m really disappointed and angry with the goal (for Tottenham). The players at half-time were great, it was a win for the players this, they were terrific at half-time. We’ve come in at half-time before, the dressing room has been quiet and disappointed but it was so vocal. there was such a determination among the players not to lead down the normal path of losing the game. The response in the second half was fantastic. And I think we grew, got stronger and deserved the win, I thought.”
