Barcelona have completed the transfer of Douglas Pereira from Sao Paulo and the 24-year-old Brazilian defender was presented to the fans and the media at the Nou Camp on Friday. Douglas has signed a five-year contract with Barcelona after passing his medical, with the fee in the region of Euros 4 million (US$ 5.3 million), according to the club.
This sum could rise another Euros 1.5 million, depending on appearances. The club had announced its intention to sign Douglas earlier this week and is the latest in a series of acquisitions as Barcelona prepare to serve out a ban on signing new players over the next two transfer windows. Barcelona received the ban for breaching rules regarding the acquisition of youth players.
