Alan Pardew’s side continued with their impressive season as on Saturday Yohan Cabaye struck his fifth goal of the season, an only goal of the match, winner, which was enough for the Eagles to beat the Saints.

Alan Pardew, Crystal Palace manager (on an important win at home):

“We got an important win today. We were so determined to try to keep the sixth place and we’ve got to take that into every game now to try to stay in there during this Christmas period. There will be a lot of pressure on us, on our squad because of the amount of games, but an important home win.”

Alan Pardew, Crystal Palace manager (on Yohan Cabaye):
“It was a Frenchman today that was the difference between the two sides. It was a master class from Yohan Cabaye today, if you want to see how a midfielder plays in the Premier League, tackling, heading, passing, being calm on the ball and being frantic when he needs to be. He did everything today. It’s not just about our south London guys it’s about everybody, we are all in it together and that shows on the football pitch.”

Ronald Koeman Southampton manager (on how he felt the Southampton played):
“It was difficult to play our football because of the wind today, it makes it difficult for both teams. I think Crystal Palace are a team that plays…played a little bit more direct than Southampton. Maybe that was the reason we had some difficulties in the beginning. After we controlled the game…We had a good chance, a good header, not defensively good in closing gaps, in the first goal. The second half I think we played well, we dominated the game.”
