Reaction after Arsenal defeat Everton 2-0 to stay in touch in EPL title race on Saturday (19th March).

Arsene Wenger, Arsenal Manager
“In England it’s very difficult to give a fair assessment of performances because when you lose its disastrous. We have lost some game where we have not been as bad as people said, but I agree you win or lose in our sport. But let’s push on until the end of the season, we are ready for a fight. Today we are backs to the wall and we responded well so I am pleased we mentally responded under pressure when the characters of my players was questioned and if we didn’t win today we were out of it. It was very important, it was a mental test for my side.”

“I am not masochistic to consider ourselves out. We have a game in hand, let’s not forget that, a game in hand at home. We are not at the moment flavor of the week but if we don’t believe nobody will do it for us, even if the environment is skeptical we just have to give our best in every game, be humble, and fight in every game like we did today, and then you never know.”

Roberto Martinez, Everton Manager
“We looked like the team that played on Wednesday over in Europe, Arsenal looked like the fresh team with a clear intent of winning the game. We didn’t have one moment in the game where we looked like ourselves and build a platform like we can, we didn’t open up the team with ease, we usually create lots of chances with our players on one-on-one situations but we didn’t have that, we were slow in our build up and we never saw clarity in our play.”
