Great match for the third place in the Confederations Cup played Uruguay and Italy. After 120 minutes of play it was 2-2, and after the shootout a winner was Italy.
Italy took the lead in the 24th minute goal with Davide Astori´s goal, at the beginning of the second part Edinson Cavani equalized to 1-1. The advantage to the Italians returned Alessandro Diamanti in the 73rd minute, and six minutes later in the same manner replied Cavani and took the match into extra time.
There were no goals, and for the third place decided penalties. Gianluigi Buffon saves three of them, which thus led his team to victory.
