The 2016/17 EPL has been very exciting so far and while we have not had a big story like last season’s Leicester City story, we have seen many great matches and some fantastic performances from the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal and are looking at an exciting and packed middle of the table.

Chelsea have of course been all the talk so far this season, as their fantastic performances have already brought them an 8 point lead at the top of the table with 16 games to go and the fact they have conceded only 15 goals in 22 matches certainly says a lot about their season.

However, right behind them Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester City are all having a great season of their own and the struggle for the Champions League spots will likely be a real thrill to watch in the dying weeks of the season. We take a look at some basic statistics of the top teams and the odds the bookies are offering on them to win the league or finish top four and analyze their value.

Chelsea Under Even Money, Arsenal And Tottenham Value Bets?

Chelsea have been playing one of their best seasons so far, accumulating 55 points from 22 matches, scoring 47 and conceding only 15 goals. This puts them in first by 8 points, but the odds of 4/11 offered with the most generous of bookies simply don’t seem too attractive when we know how difficult English Premier League is and how a short run of bad form can minimize this advantage quite fast.

Arsenal are sitting in second place with 47 points, having scored 50 EPL goals but also conceding 23. Their great run was interrupted recently by the 3:3 draw against Bournemouth but their form has been quite amazing. Tottenham sit in third place with just a point less than Arsenal, but their impressive defensive stats speak a very special story. Tottenham have only conceded 15 goals in 22 matches, fewer than even Chelsea, which is a truly impressive stat for Tottenham’s defense.

Nevertheless, both teams are currently priced at 8/1 to win the league and 2/5 to remain in the top four at the end of the season. Given their defensive stats, even 2/5 on the top four finish for Tottenham seems quite solid and we expect them to give everyone a hard time in the rest of the season, including Chelsea. While it may seem like a stretch, 8/1 on Spurs to take home the title is not too bad and if Chelsea slip up at any point, Kane and the crew may very well take the opportunity and make the unlikely happen.

Manchester United To Make Top Four?

Manchester United have had a slow start to the season which has cost them many points and a realistic chance at the title. Sitting 14 points behind Chelsea, Mourinho’s United have finally caught a decent run of form and seem destined for success in the future. The early crisis that the likes of Ibrahimovic and Pogba were experiencing upon arrival seems to be in the past and United are definitely on the right track.

While even the 40/1 that bookies are offering on United to win the league seems quite a stretch, the 5/4 on them to make the top four positions seems much more realistic. Only four points now divide Manchester United and Liverpool in fourth place and looking at their recent form, United are likely to continue winning points left and right. Liverpool,  on the other hand, have just suffered a shock home defeat to Swansea and seem to be in peril.
