Xavi Hernandez,a brilliant 32-year old Barcelona midfielder, refused the highest salary in the history of football. Samuel Eto `o is the highest paid footballer, with 20 million euros which the Russian Anzhi is paying him.
However, that money is not everything Xavi has shown. The Spaniard refused Anzhi bid to become the highest paid footballer of the world. The club from Russia offered him 21 million per year, but a footballer of Catalonian team just thanked them for the offer.
Xavi has a contract until 2014. year with Barcelona, and he is currently in negotiations to extend the contract for another two seasons.
Xavi said he wants to stay at Barcelona
“There were some difficult moment, but I hope to continue here and I’ll renew my contract soon. My greatest desire is to retire at this club.”
