Rodgers,39, the last two years led the Swansea team, after impressive results in the debut season in Premier league with the Welsh club Liverpool’s administration brought him on the hot seat as the successor of Kenny Dalglish.

The new Reds coach,Rodgers is an inexperienced coach, who before Swansea, with whom he finished last season on the Premier League 11th position, worked as a manager of Watford and Reading.

Among others candidates for the Liverpool bench were former Porto and Chelsea coach Andre Villas-Boas and current strategist of Wigan Roberto Martinez.

Liverpool will pay a compensation to Swansea between £4m and £5m.
