In the Premier league opening round, the reigning Champion, Chelsea failed to begin their league title defence with a win at Stamford Bridge despite having twice a lead.

Oscar in the 23rd minute from a whipped a free kick gave the Blues a 1-0 lead, but six minutes later A. Ayew cancels the same. Only a minute later, Chelsea once more take a lead thanks to F. Fernández’.

In the 52nd minute Chelsea goalkeeper Courtois gets sent off and Bafetimbi Gomis equalised from the penalty spot setting the final score 2-2.

It’s interesting that with a point at Stamford Bridge at the last season opener Swansea City against Man Utd at Old Trafford snatched a win, making for the future the Swans a team which many would want to avoid at the opening games.
