After winning only one point from the first two games, Greece thanks to the last-gasp penalty have beaten Ivory Coast 2-1 and clinched the second place in Group C, thus reaching the last-16 round where they will play with the World Cup biggest surprise, Costa Rica.

Samaria in the 42nd minute gave a 1-0 lead to Greeks and set the half-time score. Ivory Coast needed at least a draw, and Wilfried Bony’s second-half equaliser look to be enough to send the Africans into the knockout phase, but a last-gasp penalty in the 92nd minute converted by Samaras has set the clash with Costa Rica for Santos’ man.
