New Liverpool signing Kolo Toure believes that fellow teammate Luis Suarez should stay with Liverpool instead of opting to leave the club, and the Premier League. The Ivory Coast defender believes that Suarez can still fulfill his ambitions with the club and win trophies.
However Toure accepted that it would be the club who would ultimately determine Suarez’s future and not the player himself. “Toure told the media that “He’s a fantastic player. But it’s up to the club to decide what they think will be best for everybody.”
Toure is a recent signing at Liverpool, having arrived on a free transfer after his contract with Manchester City expired at the end of the season. And he is a huge admirer of the Uruguayan striker and hopes to play alongside him next season. Speculation has been high that Suarez will leave Anfield, with a number of top clubs pursuing his signature. However it is clear that Suarez has the backing of his fellow teammates to be able to ride the media backlash he faced after biting Chelsea’s Ivanovic in a 2-2 draw at Anfield last season.
The Ivory Coast defender has reiterated his belief that Liverpool will be winning trophies and challenging the best teams around again soon.
“If he stays here, he can have more chances to win trophies, This club is definitely prepared – the organization, the mentality of players and staff. This is a top, professional club. It is amazing. He is a great player, a fantastic player. But it is up to the club to decide what they think will be best for everybody”, Toure told the press.
Toure is entering the latter end of his playing career, however at 32, he will be able to offer the Liverpool defense plenty of experience along with huge ambition and passion for the club.
With little over a month to go until the Premier League begins, it still remains to be seen where Luis Suarez will be playing his football next season, but if he does remain in England, he will have to sit out the first 6 games of the domestic season. So he will be missing just over 15% of Liverpool’s Premier League matches next season.
