It is being reported that interest in Barcelona’s Spanish midfielder, Cesc Fabregas, is increasing, with both Arsenal, and now Manchester United interested in the former Arsenal captain. David Moyes is preparing a bid in the region of £35m to bring Fabregas to Old Trafford, however the midfielder has insisted he is happy at the Nou Camp and wishes to remain in Spain.

United face several hurdles in the pursuit of Fabregas. If they do manage to persuade Barcelona to allow Fabregas to leave with an enticing offer, they would then face competition from Arsenal who are guaranteed first-refusal on the playmaker as part of the deal which saw him swap North London for Barcelona. It seems an unlikely deal for Moyes to pull off, but he is set to make his interest official shortly.

If Fabregas does manage to join United, he will provide the solution to the lack of creativity in midfield which has been left by the retirement of Paul Scholes. He would also become the second former Arsenal captain, alongside prolific striker Robin Van Persie, to join Old Trafford in two seasons.
