Everton 2-3 West Ham Highlights: Payet completes stunning Hammers comeback win

Match Highlights

Post Match Video Interview

Eeaction from Everton manager Roberto Martinez on Saturday after West Ham came from two down to win 3-2 in the English Premier League.

Roberto Martinez, Everton manager:
“Today is one of the performances if you watch on the tape is very away from the reality. You have to have the feeling that we had. You get 2-0 up with the effort that we had to put up and then not scoring the third goal probably cost us more in every action that we had from that point on and that happens. But I don’t think our performance defensively was bad at all. We were outstanding for 78 minutes and very, very poor from that moment on.”

(on referee Anthony Taylor):
“I don’t feel he is a referee that understands the game in the way that we want to see the game played. You want a referee that takes a back seat and understands the actions. Unfortunately we had him here against Swansea (a 2-1 defeat in January) and he had a very unfortunate afternoon and it seems to be a unfortunate role to get in the way of what we want to see on the football pitch but that happens.”

(on referee Anthony Taylor understanding the rules but not understanding football):
“Well, you want to see referees that they understand the game and allow the players to play and manage the game in the way that you have to. Not just to be in a position where you have to apply the letter of the law because you will end up with six or seven sendings off in every ninety minutes and we all know that.”

Reaction from West Ham manager Slaven Bilic on Saturday after the Hammers came from two down to win 3-2 against Everton in the English Premier League.
Slaven Bilic, West Ham manager:
“To come back like this, nobody can deny (that we deserved it). I’m going to be the first to say that they could have won the game if they had scored the penalty. They could have even won the game without scoring the penalty. But nobody can deny that we didn’t deserve it. They can’t deny that we weren’t the better team from the first minute. I felt that and we didn’t stop. We showed our quality, we showed our stubbornness, we showed our determination, patience, everything and we got a great win tonight.”

“When we had the ball, I always had a feeling at 1-0, at 2-0 that we can do it. In the first half it was only the last pass that was missing. So we said at half-time, ok we are one down if we can score straight away then definitely but we going to do it. We have to be less sexy but more lethal in front of the box.”

(on chances of securing a Champions League place):
” We are not going to deny that we are fifth, maybe tomorrow we’re going to be sixth but the only right approach for the Premier League is to think only about the next game. Every other approach (then you) are in problems.”
