After making their way to the FIFA Ballon d’Or 2015 three-name shortlist, Barca duo Lionel Messi and Neymar told the press that instead of Real Madrid’s star, Ronaldo, on the same list should be Luis Suarez.
The Portuguese, according to Neymar, should not be selected on the shortlist, but instead of him, it should be another member of Barcelona, Luis Suarez.
“I think I do deserve to be [among the finalists] for what I’m doing,” he said. “I would be happy if the trident [Messi, Suarez, Neymar] were all in the three. Thanks to the history we are making and because of what we have conquered, all three of us should be there.”
“Messi will win the Ballon d’Or. He is number one and for me he’s the best, and I am happy to be among the three finalists. ”
Neymar’s team-mate Lionel Messi was also disappointed with the fact that Suarez with him and Neymar is not among the three finalists for the FIFA Ballon d’Or award.
“I’d have liked to be on Ballon d’Or podium with Ney and Luis.”
“Luis deserved it because of the season he had. You have to credit Cristiano as well, who also deserved it. We’ll have a good time [at the Fifa gala].”
Barcelona boss Luis Enrique backed shortlist of FIFA for Ballon d’Or award (Neymar & Messi) but he refused to point out the same as Messi and Neymar did (Suarez instead of Ronaldo).
For Globo Esporte Enrique said:
“I think we [Messi, Suarez and Neymar] deserve to be there for what we have been doing.
“I would be very happy if Barca’s trident formed the three candidates, for all the history we are making and for all we are winning, the three of us should be there.”
And this Tuesday to media Enrique added:
“I always want my players to be in all these lists but you have to understand there are good players in other teams.”
