The first season AC Milan striker will play in France on a one-year loan but the Ligue 1 side holds an option to buy the striker at the end of the season.

El Shaarawy who joined AC Milan from Genoa in 2011 was struggling with Injuries in the first team but yet he made 100 appearances for the Rossoneri in all competitions. In last season for AC Milan El Shaarawy has scored three goals and set up a further three in 14 starts.

Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Monaco will pay Milan a €16 million fee.

According to reports, the option will become mandatory after the striker plays a certain number of games for his new club, with El Shaarawy agreeing to a five-year deal worth €3m per season.

“It’s a great feeling to sign here in the principality,” El Shaarawy told the club’s official website as the news was made official. “I’m very happy. I would like to thank the president of AS Monaco for this chance.

“I hope to have a great season with Monaco and to give pleasure to the fans.”

While Monaco’s vice president Vadim Vasilyev told the club’s official website:

“We’re very proud to welcome Stephan El Shaarawy, whose arrival marks a high point in our recruitment strategy,” he said.

“He has several seasons experience at a high level but at the same time represents the future. His talent permitted him to explode into the eyes of the footballing world some time ago and we’re convinced that Monaco will allow him to reach his full potential.”
