Match Highlights & Full match replay – after the game

ROMA

Last week against Inter, Roma dropped points and the first place. It was the only match of the Giallorossi this season in which Garcia’s men did not score any, even though they had some great opportunities.

Already on Wednesday, Roma returned to old habits and against Bayer Leverkusen in another Goals Galore game, celebrated an extremely valuable 3-2 win and snatched all three points thanks to Pjanic who converted the winning penalty. Roma had a two lead at the half time, but only six minutes of the second half was enough for Bayer to level the score.

Garcia quickly “archived” this European victory since a big derby is already this Sunday:

– Last time it was the penultimate game of the season and it was played in a different context, but we want to win because we want to make progress on the table.

– We want to get back on the first place with a win today. To us only three points are important. Unfortunately, both teams are not 100 percent physically ready due to European commitments, but this is not an advantage for us or for them.

– Lazio has important players, we studied our opponents well. I expect a special and spectacular match.

– If we play our football, than we can win.

Against Inter a red card has earned Roma’s best midfielder Pjanic who therefore will have to miss the derby.

It’s a big problem for Garcia in the preparation of his midfield as to Keita just recovered from injury, while De Rossi is having minor problems. Captain Totti is still injured, while experienced defender Maicon is doubtful.

LAZIO

Unlike Roma, Lazio team this season is playing very changeable and therefore in the moment the Biancocelesti sit on the sevent. Back in August, Pioli’s men were eliminated in the play-offs of the Champions League, against Bayer Leverkusen, which Roma last week beat at home. Since then, Lazio is playing in Europa league where after a win over Rosenborg, Lazio has already secured a place in the next round and now fully can be dedicated to the Serie A competition.

Of course this is very convenient to Pioli and his men, especially after two defeats in the last two rounds, first away to Atalanta, and then last weekend at their Olimpico of Milan, which was their first home defeat this season. On the other hand, on five away games Lazio entered one win and four defeats, so that this is a segment which Pioli must urgently improve he wants to Lazio to the top of Serie A.

As for the probable lineups against Roma, after two goals to Rosenborg, Djordjevic could get his chance in the attack, while due to injury defender de Vrij and midfielder Parolo are still out.

Team Probable lineups

Roma: Szczesny, Digne, Rudiger, Manolas, Torosidis, Nainggolan, Vainqueur, Florenzi, Gervinho, Džeko, Salah
Out: Pjanić, Totti, Capradossi, De Rossi (?), Maicon (?)

Lazio: Marchetti, Radu, Gentiletti, Mauricio, Basta, Lulić, Biglia, Onazi, Candreva, Klose, Felipe Anderson
