Third-placed Real Madrid face fifth-placed Sevilla in Spain’s La Liga on Sunday (20th March). Real are 12 points behind leaders Barcelona . Real will welcome the return of Karim Benzema, who has been encouraged by Zidane “to only think about football”, after being left out of the France squad..
Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid coach: (on Sunday’s La Liga opponents Sevilla):
“It’s going to be a complicated match because they are a very strong rival. They might have some absences, but they are a very good squad with very good players. We will have a difficult match for sure, I’m convinced. On the other hand, I think we’ve had one of the best weeks ever since I got here to Real Madrid, and that’s a good thing.”
(asked if France is being unfair to Benzema):
“I’m not going to get into that, if it’s fair or unfair. We still can’t talk much about this issue because they are still investigating, but the only thing I want from the player is for him to be focused only on what he has to do: play football and think about the match tomorrow (Sunday). We have spoken and the best thing for him is to only think about football.”
