Match Highlights – after the game

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic looks ahead to his side’s Premier League match against Manchester City.

Slaven Bilic, West Ham manager: “He is unbelievable, he is quick, he is lethal, he is great in the box, he is very clever in the box, he is very patient in the box, his movement is unbelievable and if you add to that the service from (David) Silva, from (Kevin) De Bruyne, from Yaya Toure (laughter). But we are confident, we are confident and we’ve done it before, so we don’t have to dream can we do something that other clubs have done. No, we have done it, this season, very lately, so with the greatest respect to them and I really think that they are the best side in England.

“You have to concentrate for the whole 90 minutes, but not even that, you also have to be lucky, like we were for example in the game against (Manchester) City away, that we were good, we scored two goals and all that, but then in the second half we have to say that they were much better than us. So basically you have to have a perfect game to have a chance of getting anything from that game.”

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic welcomes new signing Sam Byram but tells reporters links to Daniel Sturridge is “just paper talk”.

Manchester City Manager Manuel Pellegrini said on Friday (22nd January) that his team need to show their personality ahead of their Premier League visit to West Ham on Saturday (23rd January)/

“I think that we have a difficult game because we are playing a very difficult team. They beat us at home at the beginning of March – we had 20 chances to score but we didn’t do it, but I hope that now we are going to go for the three points, demonstrate why we are a team that is going for the title and for that we need the personality to go there and play well.”

Manuel Pellegrini, Manchester City Manager (on if his team selection will be affected with the second leg of the semi-final of the League Cup against Everton due to be played a few days later)
“It will not impact, we are just focusing game by game, not matter what competition we are in. We have to arrive as soon as we can at the top of the table, it’s not easy, we must show why we are fighting for the title – the players, the managers and everybody to think just about the game against West Ham. Afterwards on Monday we will think about the second leg against Everton that we must play here at home.”

Manuel Pellegrini, Manchester City Manager on the fitness of Vincent Kompany)
