Arsene Wenger’s men following their Champions league win in Greece, thus securing the last 16 stage of competition, on Saturday away at Aston Villa celebrated a 2-0 win.

Arsene Wenger, Arsenal Manager:
“Yeah I was a bit anxious today because we had given a lot on Wednesday night and we came back very, very late on Thursday morning. I knew that Villa was fighting to survive and first the maybe important point was to take the lead against a team who was low in confidence and then 2-0 at half-time – I knew that the second half would certainly be a bit more difficult but then we defended well. We were maybe lucky in one or two opportunities for Villa and didn’t manage to score the third goal. But, overall it was a controlled performance and a great week for us. Don’t worry, I had as well a few bad weeks already. So sometimes it balances a little bit.”

Remi Garde, Aston Villa Manager:
“Every week I have to find some positive points after defeats, which is not easy. But I have to say that the way that we reacted in the second half was pleased, I was pleased with that because you know, it is difficult for the players. I know that and I know this situation. Even though they have made a good performance in the second half we created many chances but once again we were not efficient enough and when you have two good opportunities against Arsenal you have to score.”
