West Ham manager Slaven Bilic spoke on Tuesday (1st March) ahead of the upcoming London derby against Tottenham in the Premier League. Bilic suggested that Tottenham are playing the best football in the league currently. Bilic also hinted Diafra Sakho could be back for Wednesday’s game.

“At the moment they are playing the best football. They deserve to be there. They played many games, now they’re out of the FA Cup but they played many games in the cup. They had a replay against Leicester. They are playing in Europe, they played against Fiorentina , now they are going to play against Dortmund, a big, big team. They are doing amazingly to be fair. It’s a good team, they are playing football and they’ve scored the most goals and conceded less so they are doing really well.”

“(Diafra) Sakho’s been training with us for a few days now, well a week. We’re going to see today, depending on that, I spoke to him yesterday and he might be in the squad tomorrow. I will decide after the training today.

“Oh course it’s a big match for both clubs. No matter where you’re standing in the table, whether it is the first game or the last game of the season, it’s a big derby. It should be a good game because of the position they are in and where we are. The message is, I would like our fans to be behind us, behind the team, behind the club in a positive way. Fans are the ambassadors of our club and we have to show the world that we are a great and polite club.

“We are without Sam Byram because he got (a suspension)…It’s hard to imagine a player of his stature gets ten bookings because he’s not a nasty player but he’s out for two games. Then it’s cup tie so we’ll be without him for the next three games. That’s it basically from the injury point of view.”

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino denied that Spurs were feeling the pressure ahead of their English Premier League outing to West Ham United on Wednesday (2 March).

Mauricio Pochettino, Tottenham Hotspur manager:

“I think that we are in a good place. But for us it’s always the same, to try to win the next game. For me, they [Leicester] are on the top, they have the pressure too, like all the teams that are below. But we don’t feel that, only for us it is important to keep our level, our fitness, our mentality, and we will see what happens. It is too soon to speak about the end of the season.”

“We are in very good condition and in a good place to try and arrive at the last few games with a possibility to fight for everything. But at the moment we need to keep calm and be focused on improving, training hard and try to respect all our rules and try to give our best.”

“But the important thing is that we are ready and the mentality is good, and only we need to show [that] and we need to enjoy the game.”
