Following their recent draw away at Swansea City, Chelsea have received the disappointing news that captain John Terry will miss their upcoming fixture with Liverpool on Friday night, having been ruled out of action for up to 10 days with a foot injury. The 35-year-old defender picked up the knock in the second half at the Liberty Stadium, and despite completing the 90 minutes, was seen heading back to West London on crutches after the game.

Such an injury could well see Brazilian international David Luiz make his return to action for Chelsea, having re-signed for the club from French Champions Paris St-Germain on the final day of the summer transfer window. The 29-year-old was an un-used substitute in Wales on Sunday, and after manager Antonio Conte confirmed that the Brazilian would be used as a defender rather than in midfield, it seems highly likely that Luiz will be among the Italian’s starting eleven against Jurgen Klopp’s side. Chelsea are worth a bet for Friday’s encounter, and having won three out of their opening four fixtures so far this season, are offered favourable football betting odds with bookmakers Betway at 5/4 on.

Chelsea’s odds to pick up all three points at Stamford Bridge have undoubtedly been strengthened by the return to form of Spanish forward Diego Costa. The former Atletico Madrid man has four goals in four domestic games so far this campaign, and is the favourite in the football betting odds at Betway to open the scoring against Liverpool. The controversial striker suffered a goal drought at the end of last season, eventually leading to the 27-year-old missing out on a place at Euro 2016, but has shown his worth to Conte this season, restricting new signing Michy Batshuayi to appearances from the bench to date.

As for Liverpool, Klopp’s men have been in fine goal scoring form so far in the Premier League, and continued their hot streak against reigning champions Leicester City this past weekend. The attacking trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firminio and Philippe Coutinho have all been among the goals in the opening games, with the latter expected to return to the starting line-up at Stamford Bridge having been named among the substitutes against Claudio Ranieri’s men. Liverpool are offered football betting odds of 21/10 with Betway to claim a famous win at Stamford Bridge.
