The Uefa Champions league this Tuesday entered a new record – 40 Goals were scored in 8th matches, the new record shattered the old one of 36 goals !

A night which football lovers could enjoy, well, not the fans of AS Roma, Bate Borisov, NK Maribor..

Bayern Munich in Rome humiliated AS Roma with 7-1 in a sensational night for the Pep Guardiola’s side where even 6 different players have scored goals for the German giant. Result which remembered us of the bad night AS Roma had a years ago in Manchester when lead by Cristiano Ronaldo, United smashed also 7 to AS Roma.

This match was announced as the most exciting one for this Tuesday, but Garcia’s side who conceded in Serie A only 2 goals from Juventus, so far, fallen apart already in the first half when Bayern burried 5 goals past De Sanctis. Gervinho in the second half managed to hit one back for AS Roma, but Bayern didnt stop there as the substitutes Ribbery and Xhaqiri entered their names too on the score-list. Bayern in this game break Champions league record by scoring 5 goals in the first half time. Neither team so far managed to do it.

Well, only a few minutes later, as this record was smashed by another one when the Ukrainian team, Shakhtar, scored 6 to BATE Borisov. By the end Shakhtar scored one more and sealed a high and incredible 0-7 win.

Earlier in Moscow , the Premier league champions Man City after having a two-goal lead from the first half, failed to win, as CSKA Moscow snatched a 2-2 draw thanks to Doumbia who scored one and earned a penalty which converted Nacho. The result which ensured that both teams so far have not win any group stage game.

Another German team, Schalke 04 in a dramatic match earned 3 points. German side was behind but managed to overcome the 10-men Sporting Lisbon team and to grab a 3-1 lead. Still , the game wasnt over, as the Portuguese side managed to score twice with one player less on the pitch. A late injury time penalty for Schalke brought a 4-3 dramatic win. FC Porto celebrated the home 2-1 win over the Spanish side, Athletic Bilbao !

In Nicosia a late Edinson Cavani strike was enough for PSG to enter a new win, while in Spain, at the Camp Nou, Barca celebrated a 3-1 win over Ajax.

Jose Mourinho’s side in London smashed 6 goals past Maribor’s GK Handanovic, which make a total of 40 goals in only one night of the Champions league. A new record which broke the record of 36 goal set on September 13, 2000.

Back on October 1, 1997, there was a 44 goals scored , but that night 12 games was played under the previous 24-team format of the UEFA Champions league.

For the end, we can only hope that Wednesday’s night action could be attractive as this one !
