Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez has full backing from Florentino Perez after Barcelona thrashed Real Madrid on Saturday.

Florentino Perez, called a press meeting and it seemed Rafa will be axed instead Perez backed Benitez to carry Real Madrid forward.

Rafa Benitez was under huge pressure after an embarrassing defeat by arch rival Barcelona. The fans seemed angry at Rafa for the tactics used in the El Clasico and many of them wanted Benitez to be sacked. The replacement for Rafa Benitez is club legend Zinedine Zadine.

There is report suggesting Cristiano Ronaldo has given up on Rafa and while Rafa is the manager Real Madrid can not win anything.

Florentino Perez said in the press conference, ‘The team has undergone gradual deterioration since January 1.”

On 4-0 defeat he said, ‘It was a very bad performance, we all saw that but these things can happen. It was a horrible game but it was just one game.’

‘He has a good relationship with the players, the directors, and especially with me.’

He said: ‘There was a front page [last season] saying that if Ancelotti loses he would be sacked and I came out to deny it. This is different,’

Perez continued saying he is not sure of the future, ‘What happens between now and six months no one can say.’

On rumours around Ronaldo and Benitez conflict, he said ‘Ronaldo has never said: “with this coach we will never win”. He is a good guy.’

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez says manager Rafael Benitez has their “total and unequivocal” support despite the 4-0 loss in El Clasico.
